Medically Protecting Those That You Love, At An Affordable Rate

By Ethan Kalvin

For most Americans who are receiving medical insurance through their employer, the coverage and benefits meet their required needs, and the cost is acceptable. Typically the employer is paying part of the monthly premium, and you pay the remainder, and since the monthly premium is higher the coverage is good. Your monthly premium almost always increase based on the number of dependants that you have under your insurance, but overall the benefit of having this coverage far exceeds the cost every month.

You may get to go on for years with this situation but many, today, are finding themselves unemployed and having to explore new options for affordable health insurance. Although the unemployed are entitled to COBRA benefits, the costs have always been prohibitive. The federal government is assisting with these premiums temporarily, but this help only lasts about six months and you are again faced with the difficulty of providing medical insurance for you and your family.

When you need to purchase health insurance for yourself, or your family, you should treat the situation like any other major purchase you might be making. It is important that you communicate with as many different health insurance companies as possible, to get information on the types of plans, the coverage they provide, and the monthly premiums and co-pays that are associated with each plan. You need to make sure you have all of this information, and you understand it, so you can make an educated decision about which type of coverage is right for you and your family.

That is why comparing the services that you would be receiving to the amount ha you will be paying is the best way to accurately compare the various insurance quotes that you will receive. If their is an individual that requires more medical care than the others, under your health coverage, then it may be cheaper to purchase a separate plan for that individual, and as long as the rest of the group is in proper health you can choice a moderate premium plan.

Of course, the answer to all of these issues is to find a new job that provides health insurance coverage for your family. As more and more companies are eliminating benefits, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find employers who will treat you as you've been treated in the past. There are still a few around and, if you are very lucky, you may find one who continues to treat their employees with dignity and respect by providing life's necessities for them and their families.
