Natural Constipation Remedies

By Elizabeth North

The first and foremost remedy to try before anything else, is to increase your fresh fruit and vegetable intake. A lot of constipation issues are down to a bad diet. The increased intake in green vegetables and fruit, will provide your digestive system with more fiber and roughage that are needed to pass feces easily. Some foods that are recognized as being natural laxatives are, almonds, apricots (dried), avocados, chicory, coconut, dandelion (eat the dandelion leaves only if the do not have chemicals on them), dates, endive, figs, flaxseed, grapes, mango's, olive, papayas, parsley, persimmons, pineapple, prunes, rhubarb, soybeans, turnips, walnuts, watercress.

I have changed my diet to include a high intake of fruit and vegetables and always try to limit the junk food that I have. My favorite supplements are flaxseed and mangos.

If you suffer from an illness this can also affect your bowel movement. Supplement your food with increased vitamin C intake as this will help fight off any unwanted illness that may be affecting your bowel movements.

Constipation is caused by your food struggling to move through the digestive system, due to it being dry. The longer it stays in your bowel the more water is transferred from it to your body, making it more dry. Well a very affective way to relieve your symptoms is to drink around 8 pints of water a day. You may have heard that this is the recommended daily allowance, well it is recommended for a reason. This not only will make you feel a lot better, but after your body have taken what it needs to survive, the rest will get flushed out through your digestive system. This will loosen your feces up and help move everything along. If you struggle to drink just pure water, it is OK to use a few drops of lemons or limes in it.

Below is a list of some great supplements that will also assist your natural body movements to help flush out the blockage.

Magnesium
Folic Acid
Apple Pectin
Few tablespoons of honey into milk

If problems persist for 1-2 weeks, go and consult your doctor.
